Kerry has Moore problems -  8/9/04
John Kerry is sounding like a Michael Moore wanna-be. In speeches on two topics Thursday, Kerry blasted President Bush in ways that mimic the Bush-bashing themes of Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11."
The similarities could be just a coincidence. Or it could be that someone in the Kerry camp saw the movie and came away with some hot new ideas. Or it could be that the people Kerry has called his "overzealous speechwriters" have seized control of his mouth again, just as they did by forcing him to rail against "Benedict Arnold corporations" after he wanted to stop.

Why John kerry wil lose the election - a view from the right 8/9/04

John Kerry will lose this election, and he will do so decisively. The defeat will go down as perhaps the only thing this candidate has ever done decisively.

We've just seen a four-day infomercial called the Democratic National Convention, where everyone put on his or her smiley face; Democrats were having a love fest. It was a sea change from their previous campaigning: For starters, they wouldn't even directly criticize the president -- all that vile Bush bashing of the last few months turned into gentle speeches with nary a mention of him. Secondly, the vehemently pacifist and rabidly anti-war party did a 180 degree turn around and created the most militaristic show since Eisenhower landed in Europe

JOHN KERRY’S SECOND CHOICE: Kerry/Edwards ‘04: “The Ultimate Flip-Flop  7/6/04
When John Kerry’s first choice for a running mate turned him down, he turned to the polls.
After stating that he needed a vice president who could step in as President, John Kerry chose the one man he called too inexperienced to be President just months ago.
John Kerry’s selection of John Edwards is a flip flop on the most important decision a candidate for the presidency makes in the course of his campaign.
A candidate’s selection of a Vice President is a sign of how he will lead. In John Kerry’s case we know he’ll settle for number two; that he will turn to the polls; and that he will make the most politically expedient choice.

Are we in denial as a nation?
Jeff Nix
Personally, I submit to you that a vote for John Kerry is a vote to stick your head in the sand, hoping all will be well with the world if we just ignore the real issues.  I promise you this is not the case. If we attempt to placate, pacify and  appease as did England under Neville Chamberlain we will be forced - out of survival as a nation - to take dramatic measures rather than doing it now out of a clear minded choice.

248,000 New Jobs Created in May
May's increase in employment remained strong and above market expectations. 248,000 new jobs were created in May - and the increases in April and March were revised upward 58,000 and 16,000 respectively, for a combined upward revision of 74,000 new jobs. The economy has posted steady job gains for each of the last nine months -- with nearly one million new jobs in the last 3 months alone. Weekly unemployment insurance claims are near their lowest levels since 2000. More

Comment: After learning  the booming U.S. economy created 947,000 new jobs in March, April and May, but CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather devoted just 20 seconds to that good news before reporter Jim Axelrod spent more than two minutes on an Ohio company that is closing three factories. “The 1,300 jobs lost here, at a company whose chairman is one of his strongest supporters, that’s bad for the President. Very bad,” Axelrod insisted.

Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.5% -- Lowest Since October 2001

News, August 6, 2004

New jobs figures released on August 6, 2004 and other recent indicators show that President Bush's economic policies continue to move the economy forward - but there is more work to do.

The economy has posted job gains for each of the last eleven months - creating 1.5 million jobs since August 2003, including 32,000 new jobs in July according to payroll survey statistics released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  The BLS also released new household survey data showing a much larger gain of 629,000 new jobs in July, with a total of 2.3 million jobs added since August 2003.

The national unemployment rate declined to 5.5% in July - down 0.8 percentage point from a peak of 6.3% in June 2003 and the lowest rate since October 2001.  At 5.5%, the unemployment rate is below the average of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
Employment over the last year was up in 46 of the 50 states and the unemployment rate was down in all regions and in 47 of the 50 states.
The manufacturing sector, which started to decline in mid-2000, has added 91,000 jobs since its low in January.
Background: President Bush's Actions are Moving Our Economy Forward - Now is Not the Time to Turn Back

The labor market has improved considerably since shortly after the President's Jobs and Growth bill took effect last May, but there is still more work to be done.  Factories are busier, families are earning more, homeownership remains at record levels, and people are returning to the labor market and finding work.

America's standard of living is on the rise. Real after-tax incomes are up by 10% since December 2000 - substantially better than the gains following the last recession.  Since the President's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, personal consumption levels have risen substantially.
Consumer confidence is at its highest level in 2 years.  The Conference Board's index of consumer confidence increased nearly 30 index points in the past 12 months, from 77 last July to 106.1 this July.
The national homeownership rate, in the second quarter of 2004, was at an all time high of 69.2 percent.  Minority homeownership set a new record of 51% in the second quarter, up 0.2 percentage point from the first quarter and up 2.1 percentage points from a year ago.
Core inflation remains low by historical standards.
Mortgage rates remain near historic lows, making homebuying easier and more affordable.
More to Do:  President Bush will not be satisfied until every American looking for work has found a job.  The Administration must continue to push forward on a pro-growth economic agenda that meets the needs of the American people.

Making tax relief permanent - raising taxes now would put the brakes on our growing economy.
Providing worker skills - preparing Americans for the skilled jobs of our changing economy.
Controlling health care costs - giving America's working families greater access to affordable health insurance by providing association health plans and health savings accounts.
Reducing regulation - ensuring that Federal regulations do not handicap America's entrepreneurs by streamlining regulations and reducing paperwork.
Reducing frivolous lawsuits - supporting enactment of medical liability reform, class action lawsuit reforms, and asbestos litigation reforms to expedite resolutions and curb the costs lawsuits impose on American businesses.
Adopting the National Energy Policy (NEP) - ensuring that America has a reliable and affordable source of energy and reducing our dependence on foreign sources.
Opening new markets overseas - helping to create jobs at home by expanding markets for America's products and services around the world.
President Bush is bringing our economy back, and it is growing again and creating new jobs.  He will keep moving forward with the policies that are strengthening our economic recovery.

President Bush has acted decisively to bring us back from recession to recovery.  He has:

Enacted tax relief for families by lowering tax rates for all taxpayers, increasing the child credit, and reducing the marriage penalty.
Phased out the death tax, helping to preserve family farms and businesses.
Encouraged business growth by providing incentives for small businesses to invest.
Made the stock market stronger by cutting taxes on dividends and capital gains.
Passed the strongest corporate governance reforms since FDR was President.
Proposed his Jobs for the 21st Century initiative to improve education for high school students and train workers for industries creating the most new jobs.

The Worst President? Email extract from M McVaugh 8/10/04

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war.
They complain about his prosecution of it. They point out that
Iraq didn't attack the U.S. and we shouldn't have went to war
with them.
One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in
U.S. history.

Most of these claims come from liberals in the Democratic party.
Being an Independent I decided to take a look at history and see
if using that criteria who else could be called the "worst" president.

FDR ( a democrat) led us into World War II against Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Neither Germany or Italy ever attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.
That's 1 Democratic President, 4 years and 450,000 American lives

Harry Truman (a democrat) finished that war and started one in Korea, North
Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average
of 18,333 per year.
That's 1 Democratic President, 3 years, and 55,000 American lives.

John F. Kennedy (a democrat) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam
never attacked us.
Lyndon B. Johnson (a democrat) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,
58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Finally in the 1970's
Richard Nixon (a republican) pulled us out of Vietnam.
That's 2 Democratic Presidents, 1 Republican President, 13 years, and 58,000
American lives.

Bill Clinton went to war in Bosnia WITHOUT UN or French consent, Bosnia
never attacked us.
The Clinton administration was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated
two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors
in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Sadaam
Hussein, who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We lost about 600 soldiers, an average of 200 a year. Bush did all this
abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.
That's 1 Republican President, 2 1/2 years, and about 600 American lives.

Then the Democrats complained about how long the war on terror is taking,
but...

It took less time to take iraq than it took Janet Reno ( under Clinton) to take the
branch davidian cmpound! That was a 51 day operation!

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in iraq for less time than
it took Hillary Clinton to locate the rose law firm records in her own office!

And finally...
It took less time for the u.s. Military to take iraq than it did to count the
votes in florida in 2000!!!!!

But for some reason the Democrats didn't complain about how long any of that took! Hmmm.....

Media Reality Check. "TV Focuses on Kerry's Spin, Not Kerry's
History: ABC, CBS & NBC Morning Shows Have Failed to Interview a
Member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth"

Below is the text of a Media Reality Check put together by Tim
Graham, the MRC's Director of Media Analysis, and distributed by
fax this afternoon.

The text of the August 23 Media Reality Check:

John Kerry's Vietnam history might seem central to the campaign,
but the morning shows on ABC, CBS, and NBC have yet to interview a
single member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT) on the air.
Monday's morning shows focused not on scrutinizing the
contradictions in Kerry's war stories, but promoting Kerry's spin
lines.

On ABC: On Good Morning America, the man on the spot wasn't Kerry,
but former Sen. Bob Dole. Reporter Jake Tapper said Dole "raised a
lot of eyebrows when he stepped into this ugly battle. Dole
harshly questioned John Kerry's three Purple Hearts." Dole said in
a clip: "All superficial wounds. He got two in one day, I think."
Tapper protested: "But that is not true. Navy records show the
medals were earned in three different months."

Tapper raised the Kerry talking points -- William Rood, the
Chicago Tribune metro editor and Swift Boat veteran pressed into
defending Kerry on some points, and the Bush campaign dismissing
Ken Cordier, a veteran volunteer who appeared in the second SBVT
ad. Tapper concluded: "Could this get any uglier? Yes, it could,
because Democrats and their third-party groups are renewing
attacks against President Bush's service in the Texas Air National
Guard. So put on your flak jackets." But ABC had no scrutiny of
Kerry.

On NBC: On Today, reporter Carl Quintanilla noted: "John Kerry's
silence on the issue of his medals now opens him up to more
questions...And more criticism....But the so-called Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth are also under fire, contradicted by witnesses
in news accounts and challenged on their facts." Quintanilla
showed a headline from the Chicago Tribune story. NBC used an out-
of-context quote from Van O'Dell of SBVT saying: "I can't speak on
it because I wasn't there that day." (Rood's Tribune piece focused
on February 28, 1968, while O'Dell speaks about March 13, 1969.)
Quintanilla concluded: "On Sunday Kerry launched a new ad telling
the President to quote, 'denounce the smear.' The President may
make comments on that as early as today." NBC had no scrutiny of
Kerry.

CBS:. The Early Show included a report from Sharyn Alfonsi: "More
than 35 years after he fought in Vietnam, John Kerry is in the
midst of another ugly battle, fighting to defend his military
record....Critics of Kerry are sticking to their version of one
1969 mission even after an exhaustive Washington Post
investigation found documents to support Kerry's version of what
happened." (The Post story found inaccuracies in Kerry's version
as well.)

In an interview with pundit Craig Crawford, co-host Rene Syler
lamented, "Here we are, another day we're talking about the same
thing that's been dominating headlines of late." That's odd, since
this was the first Early Show interview with anyone about the SBVT
ads. She asked only about the Kerry camp's complaints (see CBS below).

CBS: Hasn't Kerry Connected the Dots?
"The Kerry camp has repeatedly called on President Bush and the
White House to denounce these ads, to come out strongly against
them, something they, so far, have been unwilling to do. And then
over the weekend, we just said, that this Bush adviser, whose job
it was to reach out to veterans, resigns over his role in this new
ad. Is this the proof that the Kerry camp has been saying all
along is out there, that these two are connected?" -- CBS's Rene
Syler to Craig Crawford on The Early Show, August 23.

She also asked if Kerry's complaint to the Federal Election
Commission would be heard, and "Is this the kind of thing that
President Bush wants to see dominating the headlines?" But she had
no scrutiny of Kerry.

As the controversy picks up steam, one overwhelming truth has
emerged. If we left all the news gathering to the liberal media,
they never would have questioned John Kerry's war hero stories.
Their impulse was to leave any "ugly" fact-checking to opponents.
