Think First Then Vote...
Many think their vote is irrelevant,
imagine the impact if all those people voted anyway...

Update quotes, 7/7/04
Kerry Questioned Edwards’ Lack Of Experience. (Nick Anderson, “Edwards’ Track Record On Trade Has Lane Changes,” Los Angeles Times, 2/19/04)

Kerry: “When I Came Back From Vietnam In 1969 I Don’t Know If John Edwards Was Out Of Diapers Then.” “‘In the Senate four years - and that is the full extent of public life - no international experience, no military experience, you can imagine what the advertising is going to be next year,’ Mr. Kerry said. With a grin, he added: ‘When I came back from Vietnam in 1969 I don’t know if John Edwards was out of diapers then. Well, I’m sure he was out of diapers.’” (Adam Nagourney and Jim Rutenberg, “With Hopes Up And Elbows Out, Democrats Give Iowa Their All,” The New York Times, 1/19/04)

Kerry Mocked Edwards’ “Ambitious” Nature After Only One Term In Elective Office. (Glen Johnson, “Once a Rival, Edwards Staying Close to Kerry,” The Boston Globe, 6/10/04)

Kerry Said Now Is “Not The Time For On-The-Job Training.” (Mark Z. Barabak, “Diverse States May Reshape The Democratic Race Today,” Los Angeles Times, 2/3/04)

On to original article... From the “know your candidate” department we bring you some of the collected notable quotes from the aspiring democratic nominee for President.

As you consider these positions voiced, keep in mind these are not necessarily the same positions Kerry is supporting today. You may wonder why the disparity between what we hear from him now versus what he claims he believed in the past. It’s simple, and for Kerry, unavoidable. The Democrat’s “issues” have historically been poll driven. While they’ll always have their basic liberal tenants deeply rooted in big government “we feel your pain” platitudes, the party platform exists on interpreting the public pulse, second only to buying their power base by legislating as many politically corect measures as they can get away with.

This is of course the only alternative in the absence or new or original ideas. The laughable and unfortunate problem with this method is that when polling, they pose leading questions designed to get the answer they desire so they can say of the poll, “see, this is what America really thinks”. In short, the Dems are always stumbling over their own positions on the issues because they have no real conviction about them. In a world of facts, you can’t have it both ways.

On to the notable quotes, said Kerry...

On the Threat of Saddam Hussein: “It would be naive to the point of grave danger not to believe that, left to his own devices, Saddam Hussein will provoke, misjudge, or stumble into a future, more dangerous confrontation with the civilized world. … He has supported and harbored terrorist groups, particularly radical Palestinian groups such as Abu Nidal, and he has given money to families of suicide murderers in Israel. … We should not go to war because these things are in his past, but we should be prepared to go to war because of what they tell us about the future.”
(Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getpage.cgi?position=all&page=S10171&dbname=2002_record, 10/9/02, p. S10171)

Speaking to Ralph Nader: “Don't judge me by the people who preceded me. You may have had a disagreement with [President] Bill Clinton, or [former Vice President] Al Gore, or the Democratic leadership in Congress…. but that's not me. I have fought with you, I have been with you on a range of issues, and you should judge me by my record in the Senate."
(Nick Anderson and Michael Finnegan, “Kerry Reaches Out To Independent Rival Nader,” Los Angeles Times, www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-kerry20may20,1,3377118.story, 5/20/04)

On Saddam and WMD's: "Without question we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a Brutal, murderous dictator, leading an opressive regime… he represents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation. And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction… So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real"
Jan 2,2003

More on Saddam and WMD's:
I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force if necessary to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.

About Abortion:
If you believe that choice is a constitutional right, and I do, and if you believe that Roe v. Wade is the embodiment of that right ... I will not appoint a justice to the Supreme Court of the United States who will undo that right.’ (Mike Glover, “Kerry Says No ‘Games’ On Abortion,” The Associated Press, 1/26/04)

On pulling out of Iraq: Said Kerry,  “I don’t think anyone in the Congress is going to not give our troops ammunition, not give our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves. We’re not going to cut and run and not do the job.” (CBS’ “Face The Nation,” 9/14/03)  But Then, Kerry Voted Against Senate Passage Of Iraq/Afghanistan Reconstruction Package

Of the Iraq prison issue:  “What has happened is not just something that a few, you know, privates and corporals or sergeants engaged in ... This is something that comes out of an attitude about the rights of prisoners of war... It's an attitude that comes out of how we went there in the first place, an attitude that comes out of America's overall arrogance as policy.”
(Al Cross, "Bush's Arrogance Costly, Kerry Says," The [Louisville]Courier-Journal, www.courier-journal.com/localnews/2004/05/12ky/A1-kerry0512-9790.html,  5/12/04)

More on the Abu Ghraib prison issue: 'this is a moment for America to try to deal with this without any partisan politics. This is not about politics. This is about our country. This is about how we're going to be stronger.'” (CNN's "The Morning Grind," www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/05/10/mon/index.html, 5/10/04)

Of the war in Iraq:
"Iraq may not be the war on terror itself, but it is critical to the outcome of the war on terror, and therefore any advance in Iraq is an advance forward in that and I disagree with the Governor Howard Dean."

On many other issues, rather than a reasoned honest response, Kerry can only react with intellectually dishonest rhetoric in the consistent style he has preferred during his campaign, that of problem orientation rather than solution orientation. While I understand that as an opposition candidate he must find a message that he hopes will secure a following, the answer to everything for Kerry seems to be “get rid of Bush”.
Their answer for everything is “get rid of bush” It is the easiest thing to say and the obvious noncommittal path of zero resistance. This too is understandable given that he and the Democrat party seems to be short on ideas and long on pessimism.  What’s unfortunate here is how the media grants Kerry credibility just for raising any glimmer of doubt about the Bush administration. Typical.
